Purchasing Skincare on Amazon

Its late at night, and a thought bubble exits your head. "I am out of (insert skincare product) and I have no time to stop at the store. I'll get it on Prime, it'll be here in 2 days and its $4 cheaper." We've all been there right?

Listen, I love me some Amazon Prime, the sheer convenience and you can literally find ANYTHING on Amazon. So what's the problem with purchasing skincare on Amazon? Well there are a few things to be mindful when purchasing skincare, body care and haircare on Amazon.

Make sure that when you purchase skincare products on Amazon that they are coming directly from the companies store front. If it is not coming from a store front then I would wait to purchase that product in person at the retailer you normally purchase from. There's a TON of third party sellers on Amazon which is why there are a variety of price differences between the same product being sold by 279 sellers. Convenient for the consumer? Sure! But why the hesitation?

The source from where the skincare product is coming from is unknown, if it's not sold by that companies specific store front. For example, perhaps a representative who no longer works for the skincare company has car stock left over and wants to get rid of it, so he/she puts it on Amazon for a discounted price. Thats all fine and dandy, but have the products been temperature controlled? Have they been tampered with? Are they expired? Have they been opened and resealed? So many variables to compromise the integrity of that skincare product you are purchasing if it is not coming from that companies store front.

I have heard and seen it all over the past 16 years. Including clients having major issues from skincare they had purchased on Amazon. Many who developed a reaction from a product they purchased online and it "smelled" different but used it anyways. They later came to me with their reaction and needed help! Not only did she lose her money from her purchase, but we went backwards in her reults trying to fix the problem that could have been avoided all together.

We have ALL made those Amazon purchases where they were far from a home run. Items arrived broken, not as they appeared from the website picture or just didn't work all together. Many items you are able to return without any issue. Many you can't and it's even difficult to reach the seller of the item. Things happen! No website or retailer is perfect. At the end of the day, like making ANY purchase, do your research. We do our research to find the best price right? So do your research to find the best source for your purchasing. And don't get stuck with a perfume bottle smelling like a bodily fluid to save a few bucks... yeah that happened too.. true story.
