The best anti-aging product...

More often than not, I get asked "What is the best anti- aging moisturizer?", "Whats the best wrinkle cream?", "I don't want to get sagging skin, what's the best cream for that?". While in a perfect world I would say "Oh ________ is the best moisturizer for all the things anti-aging. However, it's not that simple. Of course it's not, right? But it isn't that complicated either.

In the past I have talked about acne on the blog and on Instagram. How there are several different types of acne and there is no "one size fits all" treatment, despite what the commercials on TV and adds in the magazines tell us. The same goes for aging skin. The "fountain of youth" consists of several different properties to make up what is considered anti-aging. There is an umbrella of many different ingredients that help fight, you guessed it, the many different types of aging that we can start to see signs of as soon as in our 30's.. super duper, I know.

I am here to break down the differences between the most common anti-aging ingredients on the market and who can benefit from them

Retinol- In my opinion retinol/retin-a is one of the best go-to products/ingredients to help fight signs of aging. Retinol is derived from vitamin A. It typically can come in a cream or gel form. Our skin turns over every 28-30 days. Retinol helps to turn your skin cells over at a much faster rate than our skin does naturally. When used on a regular basis, anywhere from twice a week to every other day, your skin will become smoother, texture will improve, pores will soften and the color, and tone of the skin will improve. Not to mention and increase in collagen production.

- Farmhouse Fresh Watercress Gelee Moisturizer - can be used every other day to start.

- Neocutis Nouvelle Correction Cream- can be used every 2 days to start (more powerful formula)

Vitamin C- Naturally vitamin c is very brightening on the skin. You'll notice any brightening product will contain vitamin c. But the best ones to look for are ones containing L-Ascorbic Acid. Topical vitamin c can help reduce the appearance of and protect against hyperpigmentation. If you are getting treatments done to help lighten hyperpigmentation, a vitamin c serum should definitely be in your routine.

- Neocutis ReACTIVE Serum- to be used in the morning, on top of your SPF

Peptides- A chain of amino acids that help to build and preserve collagen and elastin fibers in the skin. Which can help the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, existing and as a preventative. Anyone can benefit from using a peptide based moisturizer or serum.

- Three Milk Moisturizer- can be used every day

- SkinMedica TNS Advances+ Serum- to be used twice a day underneath your moisturizer

SPF- Like just about everything, the daily use of sunscreen helps to preserve your collagen, elastin and keep hyperpigmentation under control. While using any corrective products or doing any corrective treatments, daily SPF is crucial. EVERYONE needs to be using an SPF of at least 30 every day.

- Elta MD Clear - to be used every morning

- Elta MD Daily- to be used every morning

Hyaluronic Acid- A very popular ingredient to help deeply hydrate and help retain the skins natural moisture. Which then will help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Anyone can benefit from using hyaluronic acid in their daily routine.

- SkinMedica HA5 Serum- can be used morning and at night

Jane Iredale Beauty Prep Hyaluronic Acid Serum- can be used morning and night

Growth Factors- Natural substances made by a variety of different cells to maintain the integrity of the skin. Growth factors are responsible for supporting the repair of aged and/or damaged skin, helping to improve the skins collagen and elastin functions and maintaining the protection factors of the skin. An improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, texture and color can be noticed.

- Biopelle Tensage Line- The entire Tensage line is a growth factor based skincare line. There are moisturizers, eye creams, serums and advanced serum ampules (which is my favorite)

Antioxidants- Help to protect the skin in fighting free radical production. Free radicals damage healthy skin cells and create a stressful environment for healthy skin cells to rebuild and grow. Someone that is experiencing dull, lack luster skin with some uneven color and clarity can benefit from an antioxidant rich product.

- Skinmedica Glypro Antioxidant Serum- can be used once a day preferably in the morning underneath sunscreen.

By incorporating 1-2 of these products into your existing routine can up your anti-aging game tenfold. Just be sure to introduce 1 product at a time into your skincare routine to avoid any irritation.
