Why so much makeup?

You wake up and to your surprise, mother nature gifted you a nice red juicy pimple smack dab in the center of your face.. thanks so much. So after you wash, moisturize and prime you pop on some of your best concealer in hopes to blend in your new addition to be the same color as your skin. Then you dust on you favorite powder foundation, and a little blush/bronzer and you're on your way.. right? I wish I was right girls.

As funny as it was filming this video, I was dying a little inside. Not because I felt silly, or looked ridiculous or even because my skin was like "Girl what is happening out there?". I was dying a little inside because THIS IS ALL I SEE ON SOCIAL MEDIA. I literally see 97% of influencers, makeup artists and even some aestheticians showing their makeup application done exactly this way!

*If you haven't seen my video on this application, head over to Instagram (the_perkypineapple) and get a good laugh*

Yes, makeup is FUN! And it is meant to enhance your own natural beauty, enhance your best assets, conceal minor imperfections and blemishes, whatever they may be. But when did we start feeling the need to completely paint on makeup, layer upon layer upon layer????? Contouring can be super fun, don't get me wrong. But at the end of the day we can't be walking instagram filters. It sounds amazing, but it just isn't reality.

*After filming the video I scrubbed my skin TWICE and it still felt overloaded*

I totally understand that not everyone is blessed with flawless skin. As woman we have so many different variables in our lives that can contribute to skin issues. And I'm certainly not here to poke fun at the ladies that have to cover and conceal everyday due to skin concerns. What I A here to say is that YOU ARE BEYOND BEAUTIFUL. Flaws and all. Freckles, pimples, visible pores, it doesn't matter. What our skin looks like does not define us as human beings, and no one should let us believe that. Where there are skin concerns, there is help! But to frost our faces like a birthday cake with makeup because its "trendy" or because society says this is how it should be done is downright WRONG. n. Those clogged pores and irritated areas on your skin become ticked off and they multiply. Repeat this cycle a few times and your skin is a whole other level of mad. Then we keep repeating the same application day in and day out, to help cover up the breakouts that where caused due to the makeup trend society thinks we need to follow.

*No filter, only wearing Jane Iredale Pressed Powder in Amber*
